ePAGE SOLUTIONS AND NEXTBILL ANNOUNCE STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP
Billers now have a rapidly deployable, direct electronic billing presentation
and payment option

ATLANTA and DALLAS, (July 28, 2000)... Electronic Page Solutions, Inc.(ePage Solutions), a leading software developer in the electronic document industry, and NextBill.com, Inc., a Biller Service Provider delivering turnkey electronic bill presentment and payment (EBPP) systems to financial and billing institutions, today announced a strategic alliance. This new partnership combines the power of ePage Solutions’ electronic statement presentment software with NextBill’s versatile electronic payment engine, offering the opportunities for billers to launch a direct and cost effective EBPP solution in days, not weeks or months.

This partnership signifies both companies’ mutual commitment to corporate billers and establishes their positions in the EBPP industry. ePage Solutions and NextBill.com will provide a comprehensive and secure electronic billing system that reduces paper and print costs by distributing bills directly to customers who can initiate payments online using the Federal Reserve’s Automated Clearing House (ACH).

A key advantage for billers is the ease and speed of implementation achieved by using the ePage Solutions system that installs easily and seamlessly with legacy mainframe systems. Implementation can be achieved in a few days without disrupting IT staff using ePage’s non-intrusive conversion of print streams to electronic invoices. A second key advantage is that corporate cash management is improved with better forecasting and the elimination of float.

“Our alliance with ePage Solutions enables quick deployment of our combined end-to-end EBPP system,” said Richard B. Inman, Jr., CEO of NextBill.com.“This direct EBPP system can provide an excellent means for ePage Solutions’ Fortune 1000 customers to build relationships with online customers.”

“With NextBill’s flexible ACH payment system, ePage Solutions’ corporate customers can easily move to a cost effective EBPP offering without losing control over mission critical billing information,” explained Paula Fowler, CEO of ePage Solutions.“Consumers will appreciate receiving invoices that look just like their previously printed ones, opening the bills in their e-mail boxes, and scheduling payment with ‘point and click’ efficiency.”

The strategic alliance between ePage Solutions and NextBill.com will offer billers an easily implemented EBPP system that is unmatched to-date. This solution offers:

  • Implementation in days, not weeks or months
  • Web-enablement of current mainframe invoices, without changes to existing accounting systems
  • In-house control of the billing and payment process
  • Direct billing to customers using secure and private email
  • Direct payment to billers through Federal Reserve’s Automated Clearinghouse
  • A “sticky” application that provides one-on-one marketing opportunities and can direct customers back to the biller’s Web site on a monthly basis
  • “Point and Click” payment scheduling and interactive billing options
  • An electronic invoice that is an exact replica of the bill the customer currently receives in the mail

    About NextBill.com, Inc.

NextBill.com, Inc., a pioneer in the direct EBPP model, is a Biller Service Provider that links billers directly to their customers while providing enhanced customer care, one-to-one marketing opportunities, cost savings and improved cash forecasting capabilities. The NextBill model uses two trusted technologies: e-mail to deliver bills to customers and the Federal Reserve for online payments. After receiving an e-mailed bill, customers make payments by clicking on a “Pay Bill” hyperlink to an online payment screen at the biller’s Web site. The payment is then processed via the Federal Reserve’s Automated Clearinghouse system.

Brinkman Technologies, Inc. (BTI) utilized its existing ACH software, CAP 2000, as the foundation for NextBill and contributed the technology to a newly formed company in February 2000. In April 2000, Eagle Bancshares, Inc. (Nasdaq: EBSI) acquired 60% ownership in the company after its largest subsidiary, Tucker Federal Bank, successfully piloted the NextBill system.
